Action Groups Update - January 2026

There has been limited activity over the last few weeks, as the Winter weather restricts outdoor activity, there was not a Repair Café in December, and due to the Christmas break.

a. Growing Communities Action Group - in the shrubby leg of the ‘L’ shaped bed behind the Library on Chapel Street, two 2 metre diameter patches had been cleared ready for planting the two walnut trees. There will be a ‘planting session’ for them at the end of January.

b. Zero Waste Hub Action Group – members of the group are updating the Repair Café ‘Volunteer Policy’ and looking at the question of repairers taking work home, if they are unable to complete the repair at the Repair Café. The Group is also supporting and learning from other groups in the area, for example in Duns and in Morpeth.
