Fossil Fuel Divestment Day of Action

Fossil Fuel Divestment Day of Action

24th March 2023

Rays of sunlight through oil rig

Join environmental campaigners nationwide to campaign with Friends of the Earth for major UK organisations to divest in fossil fuels.

Locally the Tyne and Wear pension fund, which includes Northumberland County Council (NCC), currently invests approximately £238 million in fossil fuels. See http://divest-dashboard.herokuapp.com/

Write to Councillor Richard Dodd (Richard.Dodd@northumberland.gov.uk) with the message:

I would urge you as NCC representative on TWPF Pensions Committee to support “Divest Tyne and Wear” and argue for divestment of fossil fuels from the Tyne and Wear Pension Fund, as an important step in slowing new oil and gas exploration.

Do this on the 24th March day of action, alongside many others, to make more impact.

There will also be a gathering at Morpeth County Hall on the afternoon of 24th March to present a petition to councillors – more details to follow…
